Sheffield Motor Neuron Disorders Care and Research Centre

Multi-disciplinary care and support to patients and carers living with Motor Neuron Disorders (MND)

What we do

The Sheffield Motor Neuron Disorders Care and Research Centre offers multi-disciplinary care and support to patients and carers living with Motor Neuron Disorders (MND) and other neurodegenerative conditions.

Our specialist team are experts in the management of MND and work closely with community teams across the region to ensure that patients and their carers receive the information, advice and support they need.

Our Care Centre Coordinator acts as a single point of contact for people living with MND, providing emotional support, advice and education for patients, carers and fellow healthcare professionals.

The clinic receives more than 1,200 patient visits per year, over 120 of which are new referrals. We care for patients from across the South Yorkshire region and from the whole of the UK.

Not everyone referred to the clinic will have MND. Our team cares for people with a wide range of neurological disorders. You can find information regarding other neuromuscular conditions here.

As part of the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN), our team is at the forefront of research into neurodegenerative disorders, pioneering new treatments and bringing new hope to patients and families across the country.
