Kay has been working in Sheffield since qualifying in 2002 and has been specialising in Neurology at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital since 2005, treating adults with a broad range of acute and progressive neurological conditions. She joined the Neurology Outreach Therapy Service (NOTS) as Clinical Specialist in Neuromuscular Conditions in April 2013 and as part of her role provides physiotherapy input to the Neuromuscular clinic.

Outside clinic, Kay works in the community, visiting patients, assessing their condition and providing treatment. She advises patients and their relatives and also liases with other professionals to provide patients with advice, equipment and services. Her role as Clinical Specialist involves developing clinical practice, service provision and standards of care for patients with neuromuscular conditions. She is currently completing a Masters degree in Advancing Physiotherapy and is involved in research programmes developing care for individuals with MND, Huntington's Disease and MS.
