Stacy received a first class BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences from Sheffield Hallam University, where she completed an integral 12-month industrial placement with the Physiology and Ergonomics Team at the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl). Following this introduction to working on volunteer studies, Stacy went on to work for the Medical Research Centre’s Epidemiology Unit in Cambridge, whose remit is to investigate the causes and prevention of diabetes and obesity. Here, as Site Coordinator at the largest of three clinical testing sites, her role involved managing the site and carrying out volunteer testing.

In 2008, Stacy joined the NIHR Bone Biomedical Research Unit in Sheffield. She was responsible for the coordination of an extensive research programme, including investigator-led clinical trials and multicentre, national and international research projects. Stacy is experienced in preparing and submitting applications for ethical and Regulatory Authority review, and securing Research Governance permissions; maintaining investigator site files; assisting with monitoring and auditing studies; and the strategic planning and management of research finances.

Since joining DeNDRoN in 2011, initially providing maternity cover for Hannah Hollinger, Stacy supported the MND Clinical Studies Group and Portfolio Management Group in their remit to develop new research projects, and to actively manage the Portfolio of MND studies to ensure they deliver on time and to target. She is now a Research Project Manager for Neurodegenerative Disease studies.
