I am a Consultant Neurologist and Senior Lecturer and in neurology. I studied medicine at the University of Manchester and have been working in the field of neurology since 2004. I am interested in applying neuroimaging techniques to the study of people with neurological illnesses, with the aim of deciphering how these diseases operate, and the ultimate goal of helping to develop better treatments. I obtain a PhD from University College, London in 2010 for a project investigating mechanisms of damage and repair in optic neuritis and multiple sclerosis with advanced MRI techniques, including diffusion tensor imaging and functional MRI. I moved to Sheffield in 2009 and am now in the process of applying the principles and techniques I learned to study deficits of energy metabolism in people with motor neurone disease, whilst simultaneously completing my clinical training in neurology.
